Since Prince Charming isn’t going to come knocking at your door or stumble into you while you’re grabbing coffee at Starbucks, you’re definitely going to have to venture into the dating world if you’re single and hoping for love.  It’s not pretty, it’s not fun, but it’s something you need to do if you want to find love.

It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been on your own, dating in Orange County is definitely tough.  There’s so much to think (and worry) about when it comes to modern dating.  From dating apps and dating sites to whether or not you should accept dates set up by your coworkers, all the way down to deciding what to wear on your upcoming first date, there’s a lot to think about.  We get it.  Dating is hard.

Even if you’re regularly meeting people who you really like and are happy to get to know them, there are still some aspects about dating you might not really like.  And the truth is, many singles in OC don’t like these things either.  Today, our upscale Irvine matchmakers here at Orange County Singles Dating Service will show you the top things you’ll always hate about dating in Orange County.

dating in orange county

1. The Pressure to Be Yourself

Everyone will always tell you that the key to success in your romantic life is simply being yourself.  Yes, it’s annoying to hear it, and it might be a little cliché.  But the truth is, you definitely need to be yourself.  You never want to lie or embellish the truth too much in dating.  Really, you shouldn’t tell him you like football or that you’re an outdoors enthusiast if you hate sports and can’t stand getting dirty.  Even if you get away with it for a little, the truth will eventually come out and cause the relationship to end due to incompatibility.

2. Arranging Dates

Another thing you’ll definitely hate about dating in Orange County is arranging date after date.  Okay, so you might meet an attractive guy who has a great personality and think that all you need to do is send a text message to set up a date.  But that’s not the way it works, not if you’re serious about dating.

You send a text and wait and wait to finally hear a response.  He responds, but you both struggle to pick a time and place.   Eventually, after what feels like an eternity of texting back and forth with suggestions, you set up a date.  But by then, you’re already tired of all the work you put into this guy.  It’s the truth.  If you’ve been single for a while, you’ll definitely hate setting up dates, especially when they’re all disappointing in the end anyways.

3. Men Who Play Dating Games

You’re not in the dating scene to play games.  Of course you’re not, so why would you want to end up with someone who is playing dating games with you?  Why can’t they be honest?  Why can’t they just be upfront?  You really don’t understand men who play games.  They’re the worst guys to encounter in the OC dating scene, and you want nothing to do with them.  Unfortunately for you, the Orange County dating scene is full of guys like this.  If you’re single and dating, you’re bound to come across a few players along the way.

The hard part about this is that you can’t always spot a player on a first date.  You might think he’s a great catch, fall hard for him, and quickly learn the hard way that he’s just a player.  When these things happen to you, it definitely makes you hate dating and everything about it.

4. Trying to Decode Text Messages

You really can’t date someone without texting.  Really, it’s just not possible today.  You have to text to make plans, to chat, and to get to know each other; you have to text each other all the time.

And although quick, casual, and convenient, it’s not always easy to decode a text message.  You’re constantly driving yourself nuts trying to figure out what he’s thinking, what he’s saying (or not saying), etc.  This added stress of decoding texts has you worn out.

5. Staying Positive

The truth is, if you want to find ove in Orange County, you’ll have to stay positive.  It won’t do you any good if you act like you never going to meet the one.  You also have to conquer that fear being single forever.  You can’t date without putting a smile on your face and telling yourself you’ll get through it.  Of course, this is easier said than done.  After a particular bad date, you’ll want to go home and cry yourself to sleep, or maybe you’ll want to stop dating altogether.

As Irvine matchmakers with nearly 30 years of experience helping single women in Orange County date and find love, we know that’s the last thing you should do.  Why?  Because you’ll never meet someone unless you venture out in the dating scene.  Of course you can always take a small dating break, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  But after taking a little breather, you should definitely come back to dating again, hopefully with a fresh and positive outlook.

6. All the Cliché Things

You never know when you’ll meet the one.  You could meet Prince Charming at the store tomorrow.  You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince.  You have to try.  You’re too picky.  You have to be happy to find happiness.  You have to be ready for anything because love could come tomorrow.  These are all cliché things single women hear all the time.  Oh, yes, and we know you hate every single one of these cliché lines.

Of course, as professional matchmakers, we know that every single one of these things is true.  You have to be open and ready for love because it can come knocking at your door any time.  At the same time, that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be annoying to hear it time and time again.  When you’re trying your best to find love and things aren’t working out for you, it’s frustrating and depressing to hear cliché lines like this.  It’s up to you to not to let these lines get to you.
